No Nukes! Trial Strategies for the Win��

Webinar Description:��

For over four years, Plaintiff’s counsel – from three separate law firms – repeatedly threatened to secure a nuclear verdict for their client who suffered serious injuries, including a spinal fracture and an uncontested moderate traumatic brain injury (“TBI”) with subdural bleeding in a rear-end accident.������

Attempts at mediation failed and the case was hard fought.��After a six-day federal jury trial, Plaintiff asked the jury to award approximately 10 million dollars. The jury deliberated for just over an hour before returning a complete defense verdict of no liability on the part the tractor-trailer driver. The case is now on appeal in the Fourth Circuit.������

Throughout the battle, Ashley and Jeff confronted extensive pre-trial motions, negligent hiring claims, punitive damages, and surprises at trial. Ashley and Jeff will discuss lessons learned and strategies for defeating cases with nuclear verdict potential.������

About the Presenters

Ashley Winsky, Gentry Locke Attorneys

Ashley leads Gentry Locke’s Civil Defense practice group. She is particularly known for her work in the transportation industry. She defends motor carriers and freight brokers against personal injury claims resulting from roadway accidents. Ashley has experience defending transportation companies in catastrophic injury, brain injury, spine injury, and wrongful death cases. Ashley responds to accident scenes throughout Virginia and the surrounding states and works with experts in the fields of human factors, biodynamics, and accident reconstruction. Her trucking clients range from small, family-owned operations to some of the nation’s largest truckload carriers. Confident and comfortable in the courtroom, Ashley has tried numerous cases before both judge and jury in state and federal court. She is equally effective in mediating disputes to save clients the expense and exposure that comes with protracted litigation.������

Jeff Miller, Gentry Locke Attorneys��

Jeff is a partner in Gentry Locke’s Civil Defense Litigation practice group.
