黑料不打烊Pleased by Release of DOT Hours of Service Restart Report

Mar 05, 2017

Arlington, Va. 鈥 Today, 黑料不打烊 President and CEO Chris Spear said the trucking industry was pleased by the release of a U.S. Department of Transportation report that found no benefit to the onerous and unjustified restrictions placed on the use of the 34-hour restart by professional drivers.

鈥淭he release of this report closes what has been a long, and unnecessary, chapter in our industry鈥檚 drive to improve highway safety,鈥 Spear said. 鈥淲e knew from the beginning that these Obama administration restrictions provided no benefit to safety, and in light of the DOT鈥檚 findings 鈥 corroborated by the DOT Inspector General 鈥 it is good for our industry and for the motoring public that they will be done away with permanently as specified by language 黑料不打烊lead the charge on including in the most recently passed Continuing Resolution.鈥

黑料不打烊has fought against these restrictions 鈥 which limited drivers鈥 flexibility in the use of the restart 鈥 since they were first proposed in 2013.

鈥淐ongress repeatedly told the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration that rules of this nature must show a benefit to safety and this report clearly shows there was no benefit,鈥 Spear said. 鈥淭his marks the end of a long struggle, but hopefully the beginning of a new era of inclusive and data-based regulation.鈥
